Labor groups Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) Metro Manila, Alyansa Ng Manggagawa Laban sa Kontraktwalisasyon, Defend Job Philippines and Church Peoples-Workers Solidarity offer flowers as they hold a memorial program at the Waterfront Manila Pavilion to express sympathy for the victims of the recent fire tragedy that killed 5 hotel workers and guests last Sunday. The groups seek justice and accountability over work-related deaths due to hazardous working conditions.
Workers also slammed the triple whammy being shouldered by our labor force including contractualization, low wages and unsafe workplaces. They announced today that the Kalbaryo ng Mamamayan will be held tomorrow in Plaza Miranda and Mendiola to denounce the anti-people policies and state terrorism of the Duterte government.
The activity was also held as the renewed deadline of President Duterte to issue an Executive Order on ENDO (end of contract or contractualization) lapses.
